Student Travel Awards

AMLC STUDENT TRAVEL FUND

The AMLC has allocated funds to assist students with travel costs associated with attending the 41st Scientific Meeting in Puerto Rico.  Travel awards will be up to US $400 and cannot be used to pay the meeting registration fee.  Awards will be based on need, taking into account other forms of support and travel distance.  Additionally, awards will only be made to students after they register for the meeting and pay the registration fee.

Travel Fund Awards will be distributed via PayPal. If there are problems with PayPal disbursement; checks will be issued at the meeting. Checks will be in US dollars issued  from a US bank.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  1.  Applicants must be enrolled full-time at a degree granting university or college.  Postdoctoral fellows are NOT eligible.
  2.  Applicants must have submitted an abstract for a poster or oral presentation.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Submit a short letter (500 words maximum) indicating your program of study and the name of your academic institution.  Provide an outline of the importance of attending the AMLC scientific meeting.  Include the title of your submitted abstract in your letter.
  2. Submit a statement of financial need and the estimated total cost of attending the meeting (indicate travel and accommodation costs).
  3. Submit a letter of support from your academic advisor.  The letter of support must be emailed directly from your advisor to awards@amlc-carib.org and contain the student’s name in the subject line.  The letter should include:
    • Confirmation of the student’s full-time enrollment status
    • The total amount of financial support you will be receiving from other sources to attend the meeting

Applications containing items 1 and 2 should be submitted in English as a single PDF file to awards@amlc-carib.org.
Please include ‘AMLC Travel Award application’ and your full name in the subject line of your email.

The deadline for submission of all documents is April 15th 2025.

We hope to send decision letters by May 2nd 2025.
